I was hired as a visual jack-of-all-trades at Songfinch, a start-up based around working with a musician to create custom music. As the sole graphic designer and, for a time, the only video editor, I often floated between teams creating graphics for web, email, pitch decks, swag, and more. The majority of my time was spent on the Marketing team, where I was able to help concept ad campaigns and use my skills in video editing and motion design to create ads and social media content.
At Songfinch there was a lot of room to experiment when it came to our advertising. Using a mix of motion graphics and footage of our artists, customers, and sometimes my team members, I created hundreds of ad content pieces for the small start-up.
Though I was often provided copy and messaging, our high rate of output meant I'd routinely write my own scripts for ads and occasionally record my own voice-over or on-camera part to speed up production.
I was often tasked with creating social content as well. In some cases that meant filming and capturing the footage as well as editing it.
